• Travelling to Warsaw

    Various modes of transport can be used to arrive to Warsaw, Poland:

    BY TRAIN

    Warsaw is well connected to other major polish cities and cities abroad. From Warsaw Central Railway Station participants can reach SGGW in around 40 min via public transport:

    • Metro (direction Kabaty): from the station Centrum to the station Służew
    • Bus no. 193 (direction Ursynów Płn.): from the bus stop Metro Służew 01 to the bus stop SGGW-Biblioteka 01

     

    BY PLANE

    Warsaw Chopin Airport handles numerous daily flights connecting Warsaw to cities across Europe. Participants can reach SGGW in app. 40 min via public transport:

    • Bus no. 148 (direction Wiatraczna): from the bus stop Terminal Autokarowy 02 to the bus stop SGGW-Biblioteka 02

     

    From the Modlin Airport, located 35 km from Warsaw, participants can reach SGGW in app. 1h 45 min via public transport:

    • Airport bus: from the Modlin airport to the Modlin railway station
    • Railway: from the Modlin railway station to the Warszawa Centralna station with Koleje Mazowieckie train
    • Metro (direction Kabaty): from the station Centrum to the station Służew
    • Bus no. 193 (direction Ursynów Płn.): from the bus stop Metro Służew 01 to the bus stop SGGW-Biblioteka 01

     

    BY BUS

    Bus service operates from different European cities to Warsaw. Buses arrive to Warszawa Zachodnia station. From the station participants can reach SGGW in app. 45 min via public transport:

    • Bus no. 182 (direction Witolin): from the bus stop Dworzec Zachodni 03 to the bus stop Metro Politechnika 01
    • Metro (direction Kabaty): from the station Politechnika to the station Służew
    • Bus no. 193 (direction Ursynów Płn.): from the bus stop Metro Służew 01 to the bus stop SGGW-Biblioteka 01
  • Getting around in Warsaw

    Warsaw has a well developed public transport system – metro, buses, trams and city bikes. SGGW encourages participants to use the public transport system as much as possible.

    Ticket types:

    • time tickets (20-minute, one-time 75-minute, one-time 90-minute, group 75-minute)
    • short-term tickets (daily, 3-day, weekend, group weekend)
    • long-term tickets (30- and 90-day)

     

    Tickets can be purchased in kiosks and in tickets machines (metro stations, buses).

    Tickets require validation inside a vehicle or by the entrance to the metro station, whreas tickets purchased from tickets machines in vehicles (buses) are already validated at the time of purchase.

  • Visa information

    Participants from EU countries do not need a visa.

    Participants from non-EU countries need a valid passport and possibly a visa. Passport should be valid for at least 3 months after the date participant intends to leave the EU and it must be issued within the last 10 years.

    Please check entry regulations for Poland. On request SGGW will issue visa invitation letters to participants from non-EU countries who completed the registration process.

  • ERASMUS+ staff mobility training

    Participants from EU countries may be eligible for the financial grant under the Erasmus+ Staff Training Mobility via sending universities.

    Erasmus+ Program provides a contribution to:

    – Travel costs (ranging from 180 to 360 EUR) – based on the distance between sending university and Warsaw,

    – Subsistence allowance – based on the rate for Poland as a receiving country.

    To be awarded an Erasmus+ grant, steps should be followed:

    1. Contact the International Relations Office (IRO) at the sending university. IRO will provide information about grant award rules applied at the sending institution.
    2. Prepare the Mobility Agreement for Training.
    3. Send your Moblity Agreement to Ms. Joanna Żach (SGGW Erasmus+ KA131 Institutional Coordinator) – joanna_zach@sggw.edu.pl.
    4. Once the Mobility Agreement is accepted, it will be sent back to the sending university.
    5. Upon completion of the Erasmus+ Staff Training Mobility, participant will receive the relevant confirmation of stay.
