SGGW at the centre of global cooperation – UNIgreen was one of the topics at the SGGW breakfast briefing

During a breakfast briefing held on 8 May 2025 at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, the university’s most important development areas were discussed, considering the challenges of the modern world and the growing importance of international cooperation. The event was attended by university authorities, scientists, and journalists representing mainstream media.
One of the key topics raised during the meetings was the activities of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences within the UNIgreen European university network. Prof. Marta Mendel, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, presented the main objectives of the project to the media and emphasised its role in promoting the internationalisation of research, teaching and academic mobility. UNIgreen is a strategic initiative aimed at building an innovative and sustainable model of education in fields related to agriculture, the environment and the bioeconomy.
“The growing engagement of students and academic staff in activities carried out within UNIgreen, including short-term mobility programmes such as BIP (Blended Intensive Programmes), is not only a response to the needs of the academic community, but also a response to the expectations of the modern world,” emphasised Professor Mendel.
This topic is an interesting example of how SGGW actively participates in creating a common area for education and research in Europe. It also shows the real effects of internationalisation – not only at the institutional level, but above all through the direct involvement of students, researchers and teaching staff. Initiatives such as UNIgreen respond to the challenges of the modern world: the need for sustainable development, knowledge transfer and mobility, which shape the future of higher education. They also prove that universities such as SGGW are not only keeping up with the changes, but also contribute to them.
